SIP 2025 - Age-Friendly Intern (Off Campus) at City of Cleveland Department of Aging

The Department of Aging is committed to ensuring Cleveland is an age-friendly community by enhancing the quality of life for Cleveland seniors and adults with disabilities through advocacy, planning, service coordination, and the delivery of needed services.

Under administrative direction, the intern plans and administers a specific project or program for the Department of Aging.  Develops and secures commitments from other partner agencies to provide services to program participants. Maintains current information and oversees the preparation of project status reports.  Communicates project/program status and performs other related duties as required.

Note: In-person interviews will be conducted on Feb. 28, 2025, at West and Metro. These interview fairs are your only opportunity to meet and interview with hiring supervisors.

Responsibilities

  • Assist implementing the Age-Friendly Cleveland Action Plan strategies and tactics.
  • Assist in planning and coordination of Age-Friendly Cleveland events, including trainings, outreach, and meetings.
  • Respond to referrals and requests to assist older adults and/or adults with disabilities through the telephone, email, home visit, or walk in contacts.
  • Participate in developing training presentations on the unique needs of seniors.
  • Assist in Volunteer recruitment and outreach to seniors and adults with disabilities
  • Work collaboratively with Aging staff members, City of Cleveland Departments and community based agencies.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Basic Microsoft Suite usage/ Excel and data management techniques
  • Phone etiquette and understanding referral sources

Program Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in current semester (Spring 2025)
  • Must enroll in a minimum of one Summer 2025 course
  • Must be returning to Tri-C for Fall 2025 Semester
  • Must have a declared major on record

This position is part of the Cuyahoga Community College Summer Internship Program.
