SIP 2025 - Youth Baseball and Softball League Manager (Hybrid) at Brunswick Youth Baseball and Softball Association
Brunswick Youth Baseball and Softball is a newly formed nonprofit organization that is responsible for running youth recreational baseball and softball in the City of Brunswick. The community based program supports over 1,000 kids.
Note: In-person interviews will be conducted on Feb. 28, 2025, at West and Metro. These interview fairs are your only opportunity to meet and interview with hiring supervisors.
The Youth Baseball and Softball League Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the Brunswick Youth Baseball and Softball Association (BYBSA). This includes managing the concession stand, coordinating the field crew, scheduling games and practices, and ensuring that all aspects of the league run smoothly. The ideal candidate will have a passion for youth sports, strong organizational skills, and experience in managing operations in a recreational setting.
Key Responsibilities
- Concession Stand Management:
- Oversee daily operations of the concession stand during games and events.
- Manage inventory, restocking, and ordering supplies.
- Ensure staff (volunteers or paid) are trained and adhere to food safety standards.
- Maintain a clean and organized environment within the concession stand
- Field Maintenance and Crew Supervision:
- Supervise and coordinate the work of the field crew to ensure that fields are
- prepared for games and practices.
- Schedule regular maintenance and ensure fields are safe and ready for play.
- Work with volunteers or contracted services to maintain equipment and facilities.
Scheduling and Coordination: - Develop and manage the seasonal schedule for practices, games, and events.
- Coordinate with coaches, referees, and league officials to ensure proper scheduling of games and events.
- Communicate with families, coaches, and league participants regarding schedule updates, cancellations, and any changes.
- Communication and Customer Service:
- Serve as the primary point of contact for parents, coaches, and volunteers.
- Address any concerns or issues promptly and professionally.
- Foster a positive, community-oriented atmosphere within the league.
- Volunteer and Staff Management:
- Recruit, schedule, and manage volunteers for various league roles, including field crew, scoreboard operators, and concession stand workers.
- Provide guidance and training to volunteers to ensure a high level of service and operational efficiency.
- Event Planning and Special Activities:
- Plan and coordinate special events such as opening day, team picture day, end-of
- season ceremonies, and fundraising events.
- Ensure that events are well-organized and meet the expectations of participants and families.
- Budget and Financial Management:
- Work with the board or association leadership to manage the league’s budget for operations, concessions, and other related expenses.
- Help with fundraising initiatives and sponsorships to support the league financially.
- Safety and Compliance:
- Ensure that all league activities comply with safety standards and league policies.
- Oversee the implementation of first aid and emergency protocols during games and events.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of local, state, and national youth sports regulations
Preferred Qualifications
- Previous experience in sports league management or a related field, preferably in youth sports.
- Strong organizational, leadership, and communication skills.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced environment.
- Basic knowledge of field maintenance, sports equipment, and safety standards.
- Proficiency with scheduling software and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Ability to work evenings and weekends, as required for games and events.

Program Requirements
- Must be enrolled in current semester (Spring 2025)
- Must enroll in a minimum of one Summer 2025 course
- Must be returning to Tri-C for Fall 2025 Semester
- Must have a declared major on record
This position is part of the Cuyahoga Community College Summer Internship Program.
